Exhibitions

An artists challenge to produce a piece for a set Exhibition is time to excel. I was invited by a member of Greenmeadows Rotary in 2020 to be included in the ArtX 2021 National Exhibition. The piece sold on the opening day setting a record sale for the charity.

The Awakening emerged over a six month period, hours of contemplation and execution is vital as one is really putting themselves on show. Layers advanced techniques intertwined stories hidden messages full of intrigue.

The following poem is included to tell the story within the piece.

The Awakening

Your ropes that tightly bind and hold

May appear as security draped in gold

Lift your spirit release the dream

Nothing appears as what it seems

Your truth is found from within

Reach inside and let the Awakening begin

Honour to see the deep emotions reflected in the viewers faces, it is hard to let my creations go however a gift to enhance the lives of others. The impressions left on others is confirmed by the continual feedback I receive.

Little White Crosses

I was lucky enough to be one of 94 Hawke’s Bay artists selected by Dr. Carole Shepheard from a submitted 148 entries as the best Art in HB for the Hawke’s Bay Art Review at CAN Napier in June 2017.

The piece was inspired by observing over two years the local Black Back Gulls nesting in view of my home, the bust contains a map of what Ahuriri looked like 100 years ago before the Quake. The nest is entwined with the inner workings of a clock and the hands frozen at 10.47 on that Feb 1931 day capturing history. Among hidden treasures are fine china some donated by locals, a silver serviette ring, metal, glass, and my trademark porcelain flowers.
